Piotr Nowaczyk is a chartered arbitrator (FCIArb) and member of the ICC International Court of Arbitration (2003-2015). He is admitted in Poznań (1984), Paris (1993) and Warsaw (1994). Piotr is an ex-judge and president of the Court of Arbitration at the Polish Chamber of Commerce (2006 to 2009); member of Vienna Center advisory board and UNCITRAL’s working group II on arbitration and conciliation (2006-2010); a WIPO expert; a FIDIC-accredited adjudicator; and a lifetime member of the Indian Arbitration Council. He is listed on major panels of arbitrators including AABD, ACICA, BCDR, CEPANI, CIArb, CRCICA, DIAC, HKIAC, INTA, JCAA, KCAB, KIA, KLRCA, MCAC, SIAC and TRAC. He has 35 years of experience in courtrooms and major arbitral institutions.
Piotr has acted as counsel or arbitrator in more than 280 arbitral proceedings (AAA/ICDR, BCCI, CAC, CACI, CAS, CCIR, CCP, CIETAC, CSGS, DIA, FCCC, HCCI, IACA, ICANN, ICAC Kiev, ICAC Moscow, ICC, IHK, Lewiatan, NAF, PCC, PIIT, PKOL, SANIG, SCC, SIDiR, Swiss Rules, VCCA, VIAC, WIPO, UNCITRAL and other ad hoc arbitrations) relating to aviation, banking, construction, defence, distributorship, energy, fashion, FIDIC contracts, information technology, infrastructure, intellectual property, international sales, insurance, investments, joint ventures, media, privatisation, sales, sport and telecoms.
Piotr was the exclusive winner, in the arbitration category for Poland, of the International Law Office Client Choice Award (2010, 2011 and 2012). He received the Gold Cross of Merit, given by the president of Poland, for services rendered to arbitration and to the promotion of Poland as an arbitration venue.
He is the founder of the Polish Arbitration Bulletin, more than 100 articles on court and arbitration proceedings, speaker at many international conferences. He teaches arbitration at the Warsaw Bar, speaks English, French, German, Italian, Polish and Russian.
