Patrick heads the commercial litigation practice at Gadens.

He has extensive commercial litigation experience and specialises in large scale and complex litigation and devising strategies to achieve maximum returns for his clients.

Patrick’s litigation experience encompasses a range of disputes including corporate and commercial, involving contract law, shareholders, directors; property, including commercial and retail disputes; competition and consumer law, involving misleading and deceptive conduct and unconscionable conduct; telecommunications; intellectual property infringements; and insolvency, including acting for administrators, receivers and liquidators, as well as advising on and litigating preference recoveries and voidable transactions.

Patrick holds degrees in Law and Economics from Monash University and was admitted to practice in 1990.

Patrick is a member of the Law Institute of Victoria’s Litigation Lawyers Section, LEADR, and the Law Institute of Victoria’s Property Law Section.

Patrick was nominated by his peers as a “Best Lawyer” in the areas of Government Practice and Litigation in the 2016 and 2017 Best Lawyers Awards.

Specific Assignments :

  • Successfully represented Baulderstone Hornibrook and Ors in the NSW Court of Appeal in major litigation against LMI Australasia and Anor involving the Telstra Dome, Melbourne in relation to complex contractual issues.
  • Representing Ericsson Australia in a major and complex telecommunications dispute against Tasmanian Hydro-Electric Corporation involving a range of competition and consumer law issues.
  • Successfully representing Esanda in High Court proceedings relating to the insolvency regime under the Corporations Act.
  • Representing a number of major commercial property owners in over 100 appeals relating to land tax assessments.
  • Representing the ATO in Part IVC disputes.
