Mr. Mohammed Nyaoga holds an LLB and LLM degrees from the University of Nairobi and Diploma in law from the Kenya School of Law. He is a Certified Public Secretary (CPS); a Certified Company Director and a member of the London Institute of Directors.
He was called to the Bar in 1985. He specialises in corporate finance, civil and commercial litigation. He is a recognized authority on bank securities. In addition to the practice of Law, he is the immediate past Vice –Chairman of the Law Reform Commission and the Chairman of its Business Laws Committee. In addition he is a certified training consultant in corporate governance with the Commonwealth Association for Corporate Governance.
Mr. Nyaoga is aptly described in Chambers and Partners 2013 as being a “passionate and very skilled litigator”
Litigation & Arbitration Practice:
The legal landscape has changed dramatically since Mohammed Muigai was established in 1988 and so has the work of the Litigation and Arbitration Department. Initially, the practice focused on Criminal Law and Negligence, areas in which it was and remains very distinguished and respected. There have been major developments in the way the Courts work and an increasing body of specialist tribunals established under various legislative regimes. Drawing on its dynamism, Mohammed Muigai’s response to these changes has been swift, yet all the while retaining its devotion to quality, making it a constant feature in the most important matters decided by these Tribunals.
The new Constitution has given rise to much public law litigation of which Mohammed Muigai plays a very substantial part. Our Litigation and Arbitration Department combinesvitality, depth and experience which it calls upon in undertaking assignments spanning the entire range of dispute resolution including Constitutional Law and Judicial review, Employment law, Telecommunications, Intellectual property law, Tax Law,Procurement, Defamation law, Banking and Finance, Election Petitions, Energy and Construction disputes amongst others. We are also involved in a number of complex arbitrations in various specialist areas.
