Jonathan is the head of private client. He advises UK and international private clients and trustees on all aspects of tax, trust, estate and succession planning and on philanthropic matters.

Typical clients range from high-net-worth individuals and their families coming to the UK from abroad to take advantage of the favourable tax regime for non-domiciliaries, to UK-based entrepreneurs, taking in the trusts, other structures and financial instruments such clients use to hold their business interests or manage their wealth. Having spent four years as an in-house counsel in Bermuda, he has particular expertise in advising private banks and family offices on private client matters. He is also very experienced in complex cross-border estate planning, co-ordinating matters for clients with assets in several different legal and tax systems.

He lectures widely in the UK and overseas to conferences attended by clients and other industry professionals, publishes journal articles on topical issues and is frequently quoted in the national and industry press.

Private Client Law Practice:

Individual clients, business owners and families have always been at the heart of our practice. We draw on many decades of experience to guide you through the challenges of managing your wealth as it and the world around you evolve. While laws and taxes change with frightening regularity, we remain alert to developments in the UK and overseas, and put our own research and thinking at your disposal.

Our aim is to provide you with a cohesive, comprehensive and workable framework for the management of your assets, working alongside your other professional advisers as needed. This may require us to reconcile the requirements of different legal systems; to achieve this, we will employ the very best local advice and our own knowhow on international structuring.

Whether you require advice on tax, philanthropy or the orderly transfer of your wealth to the next generation (or any combination of these), we’ll guide you smoothly through the process, both domestically and internationally.
