Eduardo is partner of the firm and director of its international arbitration and litigation department. In addition, he leads the firm’s practice in international law, including international investment protection law

He was appointed by the President of the World Bank as member of the Panel of Arbitrators of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (“ICSID”) and is a member of the London Court of International Arbitration (“LCIA”). Eduardo has acted as counsel, chair, co-arbitrator and sole arbitrator in multiple arbitrations under the rules of the International Chamber of Commerce (“ICC”), the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (“ICDR”), the Inter-American Commercial Arbitration Commission (“CIAC”) and the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (“UNCITRAL”). Additionally, he has acted in investment arbitrations under the ICSID and UNCITRAL rules. Further, he is a member of the panel of arbitrators of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (“SIAC”), the Centre of Arbitration of British Columbia, as well as the Conciliation and Arbitration Centre of the Chamber of Commerce of Bogotá and in various latin american arbitration centres.

Is Co-Chairman of the Arbitration Committee of the International Bar Association, Vice-President of ITA,vice-president of the American Arbitration Association and a member of the Latin American group of theCCI. He was also appointed by the Government of Colombia as a member of the expert commission in charge ofdrafting the new International Arbitration Statute (enacted by Law 1563/12).

Eduardo has been advisor and counsel to public and private companies, constituted under the laws of a variety of jurisdictions, in complex national and international transactions, litigations and arbitrations related to foreign direct investment, construction, infrastructure, project finance, law of companies, oil and gas, energy and international commercial contracts. He has also taken part as expert in international arbitrations and litigations, and has been counsel in a number of exequatur proceedings.

He is a lawyer graduated from the Universidad del Rosario (Bogotá) and holds an LL.M from the University of London (Queen Mary). In addition, he obtained a specialization degree in dispute resolution (international arbitration and investment protection law) from the latter university.
