Dina Kouvelou

Ms Dina Kouvelou is a Partner and co-head of our Firm’s TMT and competition law practices.

She provides senior legal advice on various regulatory, corporate & competition law issues, covering also administrative & commercial law aspects, and focusing to a significant extent on the telecommunications and technology sectors. Her practice also includes corporate/commercial litigation and she serves as general counsel for corporations and organizations across a variety of industries.

During the last 14 years, Dina’s professional career has spanned regulatory policy, competition law and corporate/commercial law experience in, amongst others, the following roles: General Counsel and Head of Legal & Regulatory Affairs in a leading alternative fixed telecoms operator and in a mobile operator in Greece; senior competition law and regulatory policy advisor in the Legal Department of the National Regulatory Authority (E.E.T.T.); legal consultant in regulatory, competition law and commercial law projects with Greek and international law firms and consultancies.

Her professional experience covers every aspect of telecommunications and technology regulation. Relevant regulatory experience includes handling a large number of formal proceedings before the EETT (prosecution/defense in complaints and dispute resolution hearings) initially as a member of EETT hearing committees and consequently as representative of operators.

In addition to telecoms regulatory issues, she focuses to a significant effect on e-commerce, information security, risk management and data privacy issues. Dina also has vast experience of large outsourcing IT projects and advises clients on every aspect concerning: software licensing; online payment; interactive entertainment; cloud based services; advertising and consumer protection issues.

Dina is also involved in all aspects of corporate governance and is active in corporate transactions (mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures), as well as change of control transactions. She counsels businesses in connection with structuring, drafting and negotiating transactions that include shareholders’ agreements; supply and distribution agreements; marketing; outsourcing. She advises on a wide variety of commercial agreements – for example, agency and distribution, outsourcing, facilities management, franchising, advertising, sponsorship, marketing, standard terms of business – and all aspects of trading law, including unfair contract terms, consumer law, product liability and trading standards.

Dina’s competition law practice encompasses antitrust issues relating to abuse of dominance, restrictive agreements, IP, sector inquiries and private enforcement, cartels, merger control and joint ventures. She provides strategic and policy advice to clients in regulatory matters affecting a wide range of sectors. Her litigation experience includes, inter alia, claims for refusals to supply, abusive pricing, market dominance, predation, leveraging, bundling and tying.

Francisco Martín Gutiérrez

Francisco M. Gutiérrez is a member of the Regulatory & Administrative Law Department and the partner in charge of the Telecommunication area. He advices on regulatory and commercial issues as well as litigation and international arbitration matters. He has also provided advice to national and foreign telecommunications authorities.

He worked as legal advisor for the Regulatory Telecommunication Public Body for four years. In 1996 he left his position as Manager of Regulatory and Legal Affairs to join the firm. The extensive professional experience attained while working for the private sector as well as the public sector allows him to have an integral view of the Argentine telecommunications market, which is a key combination to balance the factors that come into play to give proper and effective advice to clients.

He is the former Chairperson of the Board of Asociación Argentina de Derecho de las Telecomunicaciones and has lectured at seminars and meetings related to telecommunications. He serves as professor of postgraduate courses at Universidad Austral and Universidad Católica Argentina.

He graduated from Universidad Nacional de Córdoba and obtained a Master of Administrative Law degree from Universidad Austral.

Cătălin Băiculescu

Cătălin Băiculescu has advised on many high-profile mergers & acquisitions and Romanian privatisations, and is recognised as an expert in the due diligence process, the negotiation of assets and share-purchase agreements, as well as post-acquisition restructuring matters.

Katia Manhaeve

Katia heads the IP & TMT department in the Luxembourg office. She focuses on both contentious and non-contentious IP matters. She has considerable experience in trademark, copyright and patent issues, including litigation before the General Court of the European Union. Katia also specialises in distribution law, advertising, trade practices, e-commerce and TMT law, including data protection. Katia is active in several working groups advising and lobbying on IP-related issues and is a regular speaker at conferences.

Katia is the former president of the 600 member strong Benelux Association for Trademark and Design Law (BMM), as well as a former member of the Association’s board and legislative committee. Cheng Lim

Cheng Lim is an M&A partner in our Melbourne office who has deep experience in the telecommunications, technology and infrastructure sectors.

Cheng has been a key telecoms advisor to Telstra for over 2 decades. Most recently, he co-led the team advising Telstra on its landmark agreements with NBN Co, under which Telstra agreed to disconnect its copper networks as the NBN is rolled out.

Oh Yang Ho

Attorney Oh Yang-ho is a partner in Bae, Kim & Lee LLC (BKL). His practice focuses on advising corporate clients in areas of broadcasting, telecommunication, energy, and legislation. Preeta Bhagattjee

Preeta Bhagattjee is a director and national head of our Technology, Media and Telecommunications practice. She has assisted numerous major clients, both within the ICT sector and as customers of ICT services and in both the public and private sector, on technology and communications law, outsourcing and service level agreements, e-commerce law, intellectual property and data protection and privacy issues.

Preeta began her career in 1997 as a candidate attorney at Cliffe Dekker and Todd (now Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr). In 1999 Preeta was appointed as an associate and promoted to the position of senior associate in 2000. In 2001, she became a director.

Oh Yang-ho

Attorney Oh Yang-ho is a partner in Bae, Kim & Lee LLC (BKL). His practice focuses on advising corporate clients in areas of broadcasting, telecommunication, energy, and legislation. He has been with BKL for more than 20 years since 1989. His major successful cases include: international arbitration over CDMA royalty between Korea’s Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) and Qualcomm, sale of Daewoo Motors, restructuring and division of Daewoo Heavy Industries, reorganization of the structure of electrorefining industry, restructuring of foreign bonds of Korea Electric Power Corporation, privatization of KT, SKT’s merger with Shinsegi Telecom, and KT’s merger with KTF.
