Our attorneys—many of them trained at large law firms and government agencies to handle complex litigation—appear regularly before federal and state courts in New York State and around the country, as well as before arbitration panels and administrative agencies. We also regularly engage in mediation in an attempt to resolve disputes without the need for litigation or at an early stage of litigation.

Our Commercial Litigation group represents clients, including individuals and entities, in such industries as real estate brokerage, securities, financial services, construction, media and entertainment, gaming, internet, computer, clothing, hospitality, manufacturing and engineering, legal, accounting, architecture, communications, real estate investment trusts, technology, health care, title insurance, airlines, and the art market.

Our litigators also have extensive experience in working with international clients and on cases having international issues, including advising foreign clients and lawyers on the laws of the United States, and coordinating with international legal teams in cases being litigated in or involving the laws of more than one jurisdiction.

The Securities Litigation Practice:

Ganfer & Shore represents brokerage firms, individual brokers, investment advisers, and customers in investigations and proceedings by and before the Securities and Exchange Commission, state securities regulators, and self-regulatory organizations such as FINRA.

The firm represents corporate officers and directors in securities litigations, including defense of claims brought under the federal and state securities laws, such as Section 10(b) of the Securities Exchange Act.

Our attorneys appear in all litigation forums and before federal and state securities regulatory agencies and self-regulatory agencies. Our team includes attorneys formerly employed by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the New York State Attorney General’s Office.

The Real Estate Litigation Practice:

Ganfer & Shore is well known for its sophisticated real estate litigation practice group. We aggressively represent developers, real estate owners, investors, sponsors, and cooperatives and condominiums in prosecuting and defending against virtually every type of real estate dispute.

Ganfer & Shore has been approved by the major title insurance carriers in New York State to handle title insurance litigation representing both the companies and their insured in a broad range of matters. Our practice in this area is performed by both our litigators and our transactional real estate attorneys, including an attorney who was formerly an assistant major claims counsel at a prominent title insurer. In addition, one of our real estate partners has regularly been on panels presenting on title issues for continuing legal education and has experience as an independent member of the board of a title insurance company.
