Immigration Law Practice:

McConnell Valdés LLC has a well-known and dynamic immigration practice team that is geared toward business immigration. The team’s services are focused on assisting new and existing businesses as well as individual entrepreneurs to obtain the visas that are necessary to pursue their business and professional activities in the U.S and Puerto Rico.

The firm’s immigration practitioners often work in conjunction with colleagues in other practice groups and teams, such as Labor & Employment, Corporate, Mergers and Acquisitions, Real Estate, International Transactions and Taxes, to provide an integrated, effective and complete service to clients requiring immigration-related legal services in relation to their business activities.

Our immigration practitioners have developed a particular expertise in all areas of business and employment-based immigration. They have a very high petition approval rate, product of their thorough, meticulous work on the petitions filed, as well as their close, personal attention to the specific needs of each client and matter. Currently, there are new and expanded opportunities for business immigration to the United States, including Puerto Rico, due to a greater appreciation and commitment by the U.S. government to facilitate foreign investment and international commerce that may also create new employment opportunities in the U.S.

In August of 2011, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (“USCIS”) announced new policy, operational, and outreach efforts aimed at stimulating the national economy by attracting foreign businesses and entrepreneurs who can create jobs, form startup companies, and invest capital in areas of high unemployment.

Then, on October 11, 2011, the USCIS announced a new initiative titled “Entrepreneurs in Residence.” The program is aimed at utilizing industry expertise to strengthen USCIS policies and practices regarding immigrant investors, entrepreneurs and workers with specialized skills, knowledge, or abilities. Among its goals are to review, streamline and enhance the adjudication process of business-immigration visa categories in order to facilitate and expedite the approval of eligible petitions for investors and entrepreneurs.

McConnell Valdés LLC:

McConnell Valdés was founded in Puerto Rico by attorneys Herbert McConnell and Adolfo “Wally” Valdés in 1946, when Puerto Rico was embarked on an industrialization process that would bring to the island the giants of manufacturing, as well as creators of new industrial technologies. Many of these businesses were venturing outside of the United States for the first time
Our evolution has always been parallel to the evolution of Puerto Rico. What started as a law firm dedicated to representing financial institutions and manufacturers is now a full service law firm with practice areas covering virtually any aspect of business law in Puerto Rico. As the world and Puerto Rico change, and as the way businesses have become truly international and more reliant than ever on state-of-the-art technology, our firm also continues to evolve, developing new practice areas and meeting head-on the challenges presented in this rapidly changing environment. more >>
