Cristina Filip

Cristina is a founding partner of Peli Filip.

Cristina is listed as a leading individual in the energy sector in Romania, being ranked in band 1 in Energy & Natural Resources by Chambers Europe. She advised sellers or buyers in the most significant transactions performed in the oil, gas and power sectors in Romania and does a significant amount of specialist work in the energy sector.

Cristina specializes in corporate work, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and commercial contracts. She has been involved in a wide range of complex corporate transactions including M&A, joint ventures, private equity transactions, privatizations, corporate finance deals and corporate reorganization.

Energy Law Practice:

The shift in focus towards low-emissions, sustainability, security and reliability of supply presents new challenges for the industries of energy and natural resources. Increased regulatory pressures and changes or, conversely, the absence of clear regulations on issues which are central to the successful development and implementation of a business plan substantially increase the importance of clear, timely and sophisticated legal advice.

PeliFilip relies on its strong team of highly qualified legal consultants with extensive experience, recognized competencies and professionalism to achieve high quality assistance in a large variety of projects in the Energy & Natural Resources sectors.

The PeliFilip lawyers advised on the majority of the most complex and high profile energy and natural resources transactions in Romania over the last 14 years. The cumulative experience of our team includes some of the most interesting and high profile privatizations, energy and natural resources investment projects, acquisitions and corporate reorganizations of energy companies, energy infrastructure projects and financing schemes for the energy sector.

Our energy practice has further diversified and strongly grew in performing complex regulatory, development and transactional mandates, from the view point of constructor, producer, financier or trader, on the RES-E market, which in Romania is supported by a green certificates and quota system.

We believe that our track-record and our large specialised and dedicated team, as well as the ability of our other practice areas to offer high-quality integrated support for any ancillary matters allow us to anticipate our clients’ interests and meet their legal needs at the highest level available on the Romanian market.

David Haverbeke

I’ve been a partner in the Brussels’ Energy and Utilities department at Fieldfisher since September 2012.

I’ve been particularly active in the energy sector since 1999 and have advised Belgian and international clients in the energy and utilities sectors (including water and waste).

I’m a specialist in energy and related utilities law and have extensive expertise in transport law.

I have significant experience in providing strategic advice and assistance in the liberalisation of the energy markets, including drafting legal and regulatory frameworks relating to the liberalisation of the electricity and gas markets and drafting regulated and negotiated contracts in LNG, natural gas and electricity markets (project development, transit, supply, and trading). I also advise on competition issues.

My recent work includes advising a company, active in energy consulting, on revising contracts related to the installation of solar panels and acting as sole arbitrator (CEPINA rules) in a commercial dispute.

I assisted a company, active in legal insurance, with regard to a dispute against the Flemish Energy Agency (Vlaams Energieagentschap) and assisted another company, active in energy, in reviewing a Power Purchase Agreement.

I’ve recently advised a company on reviewing energy supply contracts and provided legal advice to a real estate company with regard to the obligation of signing connection contract with the network operator.

Furthermore, I’ve assisted a company active in energy, on the application for a supply license in the flemish region and another active in renewable energy on reviewing tenancy contract. I also advised a company in procedures before the European Court of Justice, challenging fines for green certificates quota.
